The magazine of Uniqlo is produced to answer those questions and to convey the joys of the humble T-shirt.
Uniqlo’s UT 2020 magazine asks the artists and designers who they collaborate with to share different interpretations of “culture”, which inspired me a lot in understanding how culture can be conveyed by design and how fashion is combined with culture.
The relationship between culture and identity was put emphasis on in many answers.
“Culture is who we are.”

The walls of fine art crumble before him, while new interpretations are given life. “Animals don’t create culture, whereas humans explore music and art,” he explains “What makes us human? Surely it is our culture. Our representations of humanity—that is culture, in and of itself.”
